OI/CT/PET/SPECT multi-modal image system U-OI/CT/PET/SPECT
Function: Optical (OI), CT, PET, SPECT
Deep tissue optical tomography resolution: 1.5 mm
CT voxel resolution: 2.4mm
Introduction:
MILabs offers arguably the best preclinical imaging platform in the market today. Its individual modalities, whether PET, SPECT, Optical 2D, 3D or 4D Imaging or CT, offer performance and functionality beyond the capabilities of any other small animal imaging system.
Moreover, the platform is fully scalable, including any combination as illustrated above, thus fully exploiting the synergies between modalities by the unique fusion of both hardware and software. Now it is even possible to perform simultaneous acquisitions of multiple co-injected PET and PET/SPECT tracers and Optical Tomography using segmented CT information and perform 3D autoradiography on the same platform.
Now, more than ever, the whole system is greater than the sum of its parts.

These four performance levels are: Standard E-Class CTSD with reconstructed voxel resolution down to 30 μm, High-Resolution U-CTHR with reconstructed voxel resolution down to 10 μm, Ultra-High Resolution U-CTUHR with reconstructed voxel resolution down to 4 μm, and Extra-Ultra-High Resolution U-CTXUHR with reconstructed voxel resolution down to 2.4 μm using a dedicated ex vivo sample holder.
Optimized for in vivo imaging, the U-CT system features advanced diagnostic capabilities including dynamic contrast-enhanced (DCE) CT imaging using single- or dual-energy scans, ultra-fast fluoroscopic imaging with up to 66 frames per second, DEXA scanning, virtual endoscopy, and cardiac and respiratory gating – sensor-free if desired for simultaneous multi-animal imaging.
Molecular CT upgrades
Available as a stand-alone diagnostic CT, the U-CT unit can also be fully integrated with MILabs’ PET, SPECT, and Optical imaging modules. The fusion of these molecular imaging techniques without loss of diagnostic CT capabilities expands applications beyond the reach of other hybrid molecular imaging systems.

Integrate with CT for deep-tissue 3D Optical Tomography
When combined with integrated U-CT, the system is able to perform 3D/4D Fluorescence Tomography (FLT) and Bioluminescence Tomography (BLT). These optical tomography techniques are of superior quality and the first in the industry using segmented X-ray CT information for the reconstruction of 3D/4D optical images.
Integrate with PET and/or SPECT for synergistic multimodal probe imaging
Single-pass optical, nuclear and CT imaging facilitates preclinical to clinical translation, and in addition, accelerates multimodal probe development. The combination of imaging multimodal probes within a single session and with a single dose of anesthesia represents in many aspects the new state-of-the-art translational in vivo research.
Exclusive dual-use of MILabs’ Optical Imaging module
MILabs Optical Imaging units can be used as stand-alone when placed in the docking station on the bench to image up to 10 mice simultaneously. To perform FLT and BLT, this optical box can be placed on the CT, or Nuclear/CT system. Being able to effortlessly transfer the optical box between the stand-alone bench-top and present modalities and vice versa gives yet another bonus to the MILabs’ optical imaging platforms.

Ultra-high-definition focused and whole-body PET U-PET
Function: PET quantitative 3D functional imaging
Noise: Dynamic PET, no random coincidence counting noise
Resolution:<0.6 mm
Introduction:
Ultra-high-definition focused and whole-body PET
The U-PET system can perform quantitative 3D functional imaging of PET tracers at < 0.6 mm resolution. This unique and multi-patented system allows for both focused and whole-body imaging of rodents, both in static and dynamic PET modes. The U-PET system is the only one on the market capable of using prompt photons enabling positron-range-free imaging of PET isotopes such as 124I, 76Br, and 82Rb, as well as simultaneous multi-isotope PET imaging of co-injected PET tracers at < 0.75 mm resolution. Because of the innovative detector principle, detection of random photons is completely eliminated and image degradations due to scatter photons are strongly suppressed, resulting in reduced image noise and bias. Excellent image quality can be obtained even with extremely low activities, due to the capability to operate the system at 15% randoms-free sensitivity.
VECTor: simultaneous PET-SPECT
The U-PET system is at any time upgradeable with best-in-class SPECT to an integrated PET/SPECT system (“the VECTor platform”), allowing sub-mm imaging of PET and SPECT tracers separately or simultaneously with unprecedented spatial resolutions. The patented SPECT technology offers uniform resolution down to 0.13 mm ex vivo and 0.25 mm in vivo. The stationary detectors of the VECTor allow for fast PET and SPECT imaging in both focused and whole-body modes. It is the only system that can provide PET and SPECT images of co-injected tracers, registered in space and time.
Sub-mm high-energy theranostic imaging. VECTor is the only system on the market suitable for quantitative sub-mm imaging of higher energy radiotherapy and theranostic isotopes such as 131I, 188Re, 213Bi, 225Ac, 223Ra, and many others. This unique combination of advanced technologies earned MILabs the World Molecular Imaging Society (WMIS) 2018 Innovation of the Year award.
